Welcome

Who We Are

The Assistance to Libraries Fund was initiated with a grant to the British Columbia Library Association (BCLA) from Dr. Yosef Wosk in 2005. The Assistance to Libraries Fund is organized and managed by the Libraries Across Borders Group (LAB) of BCLA and is made up of qualified library and information personnel, many of whom have extensive experience working in community-based library and information services in Canada and internationally.

What We Do

Libraries Across Borders envisions a world in which library services exist in all communities. It is a fundamental belief of the Group that literacy and access to books and information changes lives, communities and societies. With this in mind the Group seeks funds from many sources. It is then the Group’s responsibility to distribute these funds impartially and independently to projects across all cultural and ethnic groups in a wide variety of locations and to ensure these funds are used effectively and efficiently.
